Hi Readers,

We had a lot of fun writing this series. It was a project that had been on the back-burner for years--waiting until the time was right and our writing schedules aligned. Over 17,000 emails between me and Amy in Australia, Lucy in Spain and Heidi in London. We created a Pub, Sully's, in New York and I so wanted that place to be real. We created a facebook page for the series,wine labels, boarding school uniforms, timelines and many, many brothers. We went overboard (I blame the others, and possibly the wine).

My ever loving gratitude to the other authors in the series--Heidi, Lucy and Amy--for making this one sing.

Wonderful start to the series.

Pursued by the Rogue (Fairy Tales of New York 1) by Kelly Hunter is the first story in a series of four friends, I really enjoyed this story that set the stage of hoe these four women became friend while in boarding school. Skip to ten years later and the story takes off.

All four of the women are strong and talented in their own fields, though none of them are as brainy as Dawn. I was amazed that this intelligent woman felt so inadequate in her appearance then blooms into other perceived inadequates, but she did make a convincing ugly duckling.

Besides the obvious changes in the story, I loved the idea that her true love saw her as a beautiful woman, hence the swan. Finn makes a wonderful hero especially since he had never forgotten Dawn in 10 years.

Wonderful start to friends of four fairytales, dealing with fears and anxieties that are al o real. Ms. Hunter wrote this story in such a way to cause the reader to have great empathy for Dawn and Finn. I was on edge with them at the doctor’s office waiting to hear the test results.

I look forward to the all of the other friend’s stories. Each of them need an Happily Ever After. The way all good fairytales should end.

A short but well told romance in the ‘Fairy Tales of New York’ series, I enjoyed my first story by this author. Smart, driven and socially awkward Dawn Turner has been in love with smart, driven, not socially awkward Finbar Sullvan since she was a teenager. During their younger years, Dawn and Fin had a single indiscretion that went further and had more repercussions that either of them ever planned. After 10 years of no contact, can these two put aside their past to build a future?

For someone who was hurt by and didn’t like secrets, Dawn kept some big things secrets. Even with that in mind, I still liked her because she wanted to be a good person. She didn’t take things for granted and she wasn’t spiteful with her actions or in-actions. It’s a credit to the writing because it’s a fine line between an angst filled heroine and a whiny heroine – Dawn remained the former. There was enough character growth and development for her that I didn’t understand her choices.

I thought Fin was great. He had enough boy-next-door humor, humility, and moments of vulnerability without being too contrived that I really wanted him to get his girl. His patience with Dawn was refreshing but I was also glad to see that he didn’t present himself as the doormat either.

There were some delicate topics that were introduced but got swept under the rug that I wish didn’t happen but I also understand that this is a novella. I highly recommend this, if you’re in the mood for a quick but satisfying read about a couple of 20-somethings falling in love and getting their HEA.

Lovely novella , great start to a series

A wonderful start to the Fairytales of New York series; Ms Hunter brings a fresh look at The Ugly Duckling fairytale.

Dawn Turnsr is a successful biotech company owner , but for all of her success, she's a lonely women, of her own choice;as a young girl at boarding school she very often felt like an outsider the ugly duckling amongst her girlfriends , sent away by her parents to her Aunts in New York she feels unloved.
Everyone she takes a chance on loving , she feels she looses, so when her freind Kathleen's brother Finnbar takes intrest in her though she has an incredible night with him, she pushes him away.

Ten years later , encouraged by her school friends to get together for a reunion , she never imagined running into Finn also ; or for that matter for Finn to still be interested in her! Finn is everything she feels she is not, handsome outgoing popular violinist , travels the world and could have any women he wants. So, why want an ugly ducking like her,, with her secrets, even without them her family did not want her..

Finn has spent the last ten years thinking about Dawn , and her brush off ten years ago, he did not understand it then , he was sure they had a connection, no relationship since has felt as right . Seeing Dawn. She is even more beautiful now and he is determined to get her to agree to date him again.

Dawn has set up her line of defense , so she doesn't get hurt, determined to be the one in control, no lose or pain for her and she flat out tells Finn , she is willing to casually date but it is sex only, no commitments . Finn accepts her terms but it's just to get his foot in the door because he wants more , always has! Finn has to work to break through her line of defense and unlock the secrets Dawn keeps , along with the one she keeps from him.
Can Finn get Dawn to see what everyone else really sees? Can he get her to reveal her secrets? Can he get her to give them a real chance?

I have to say that still to this day, the things I learned and skills I developed through Gary's studies are applied all the time. He taught the student how to CONCENTRATE. For me it wasn't that I would USE his exact systems but the abilities I gained by doing the systems, served as the foundation for solid time, even subdivisions and the ability to be complex if desired from a coordination standpoint. His teaching and of course my countless hours of practice and playing, (need that part too!), set the real groundwork for the beginning of my career as a successful drummer in a very difficult business."

Learn to explore your own creativity.

I once heard great advice from one of the most talented drummers I met at a Guitar Center one day. After watching him move effortlessly around the kit with full control and fluidity I nagged him for tips. He asked me "Do you practice your rudiments?", which I quickly responded "Yes, I practice my rudiments for 30 mins every single day -" he interrupted and said "Instead of doing that - play your freakin' drums!". He showed me his average-at-best paradiddle skill, which I could match myself, however there is no way I could match his ability on the actual kit. He told me that although it's important to practice rudiments - especially to develop hand technique initially - it's more important to practice creativity. This advice eventually lead me to this book.

My practice routine has changed dramatically because of this advice and this book. Instead of spending hours treating drumming as set of drills I am almost completely focused on applying myself creatively. I try to treat my drumming now as an artistic expression rather then an exercise in speed. There are roadblocks though - you can't really express your own creativity to its full potential if you don't have the limb independence and creative spark. That's where this book comes in. Not only is this book great for finding your inner-artist, it's great for helping you develop the required techniques to express yourself. This new attitude towards drumming has helped me improve by leaps and bounds.

No, I'm not saying to never practice rudiments or basic hand-exercises like those found in Stick Control - they will help you develop and maintain the required hand techniques. I'm just saying that you shouldn't make this your primary focus. This book helps you learn to explore yourself, buy it.

An excellent introductory approach to Biogeography

This book written by some of the best authors known in the field comprises a quite extensive overall view of biogeography, its fundaments, beginnings, divisions, schools and relatively new applications and inner relations with other sciences.It contains also a copy of the original zoogeographic regions map created by Wallace. This book resembles the whole biogeography curse taught in the Faculty of Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, UNAM. which is quite exceptional and has the best scientists-profesors in Latin America. If you are looking for a "has it all" biogeography book this one is a must have for undergraduates and graduates students interested in comparative biology, systematics and distributions of taxa within time and space. The review has only four stars for strictly brand new additions of up to date biogeographical information are not included in this edition, yet, but for a three year old book it is a minor problem.

Brilliant text--but not substantially different than the second edition

Biogeography, Third Edition, is a beautiful new edition of a classic, but one that I suspect was encouraged by the publisher to sell more books rather than make much needed corrections and updates to the text. I certainly hope that the binding on this edition holds up a bit better than the second edition.

Brown and Lomolino's Biogeography is THE authoritative introductory text in this field. I suppose if you can't lay your hands on a cheap used copy of the second edition, or want a pristine new copy for posterity, you can't go wrong by purchasing this book.

Biogeography was a very fine book. I would also suggest some of E. O. Wilsons writings as well. I would also recommend Song of
the Dodo. The book is understandable and accessable to the average reader.

3 beautiful girls were murdered

This book & the movie will make you cry. Three beautiful little girls were at girl scout camp & some @#$%^&* man raped & killed all of them. He broke into their tent & killed them. They were just babies, sleeping in their tent at the girl scout camp. Because the killer was famous and an Indian he was found not guilty but a Indian leader said that if he was guilty he would pay & a year later he died of a heart attack. He was not old.

When I was a small girl growing up in Oklahoma I wanted to be like my grandfatherwho was osbi(he thought gene leroy hart was innocent) I was also a girl scout and thought this book was a thrill ride for myself and loved it enough to read it several times....A+

Enjoyable philosophical tale.

This is another ‘conte’ which follows the character, Hector the psychiatrist, on his adventure to discover what time is all about and how he can help his patients who find that time passes too quickly, or too slowly, or that they are always racing against time, or that time is running out or wish that they could go back in time. He journeys across the world in search of wisdom.
The story takes place a little later in his life than Hector and The Search For Happiness but it is not essential that this book has been read first.
It is once again written simply and is quite amusing at times. It introduces many philosophical ideas for further pondering. Enjoyable, easy read.

I devoured the 3 Hector books, one after the other, because I found them so refreshing. While the books are written in an easy-to-read and delightfully naive style, they are erudite and intelligent, with gentle humour, and complex and imperfect characters. The books are educative, thought-provoking and entertaining all at the same time. I am eagerly awaiting the next Hector instalment.

If you haven't read the previous ones, go straight to Hector and the Search for Happiness, as many things in this book are references to what have already happened to Hector. And if you have read them, than you know exactly what you're going to find here. Nothing new, Fran�ois Lelord have a fun little new addition to the same old formula.
