I really like this series!!

I cannot believe I haven't read this before now! I've read almost all of NJ Walters books, but for some reason I didn't get the first book in this series until a couple of days ago. I LOVE the Shadow Ryder's concept! It is a nice change of pace from the usual PNR ideas. I also like that it has lovable characters, good plot, strong writing and smokin HOT sex scenes. I really, really hope there will be more to come in this series because I will absolutely buy them!

This is a really good follow up book to the Longman. What I like are the grammar exercises and the expansion of the vocabulary. I just wish the type was a little bigger. My student is at Level 1.

I can comfortably say that this agile and masterful "rewrite" of Hugo ...

It would be inappropriate for me to judge how accurate and faithful this translation is to the original. There are very few English translations of the play available for me to make comparisons, and my knowledge about the German language still remains at counting from one to ten. However, as it may always be the case that a work translated is written twice, I can comfortably say that this agile and masterful "rewrite" of Hugo von Hofmannsthal's Der Schwierige by Nicholas Stephens is a wonderful must-read if you are interested in plays, German literature, comedies, or simply a nice afternoon sipping coffee and bonding with your sofa. Stephens' fluent and Wodehouse-like choice of words gives every character a fitting voice so lively that one finds it difficult not to read out. It is a merit to the translator that this classical masterpiece created almost a century ago could still read so smooth, arresting and relevant, enticing laughter, tears, as well as some contemplations about what kindness, loyalty, faith, love, family and relationships are meant to be.

It is almost impossible to read this without having many favourite lines to quote. One of my favourites always is: "Lukas, switch it off! I don't like this indiscreet machine. Lukas!"

Excellent new SAT Math Workbook

I have three Math workbooks for the new SAT 2016 and this is easily the best. Very precisely written, it feels almost like a dictionary/bible for the Math sections. The lesson materials are broken down and presented in a question and answer format which is very very helpful for tutors to make sure their students understand key concepts. The new topics of Data Collection(population and sample), Trigonometry, Complex Numbers, and Radians are covered in detail. There is a lesson on extended thinking that discusses problem solving strategies which alone makes this workbook a must-have. Detailed answers appear immediately at the end of each lesson which is very convenient.

This workbook is very comprehensive and captures the flavor of the new SAT Math section in depth and difficulty level. I have looked at several other workbooks - most of them are either a rehash of the old SAT or hastily put together. This workbook is perfectly aligned with the test specifications. A must-have for anyone taking the new SAT.

Masquerading As the real stuff

Acquired this book from a friend. Found it lacking. Author appears to have taken liberties with material that has not yet been finalized by College Board. I would stick with official material made available by College Board on Khan Academy. Various studies have shown that material from the test writers is best suited and impossible to replicate

About the Author
Daniel M. Davis is director of research at the University of Manchester's Collaborative Centre for Inflammation Research and a visiting professor at Imperial College, London. He has published over 100 academic papers, including papers in Nature and Science, and Scientific American, and lectures all over the world, including at the Royal Institution. He has previously won the Oxford University Press Science Writing Prize, and has given numerous interviews for national and international media, including The Times, Guardian, Metro, and National Public Radio (USA). A major feature on his research was published in The Times. Experiments filmed in his laboratory were shown in the BBC series 'The History of Medicine' (2008).

Very entertaining read in the tradition of Bill Bryson's "A Short History of Nearly Everything". A historical account of the important people and events related to the story of a fascinating aspect of our biology, as well as an indication of possible future advancements.
